Careers at Camex

"I joined Camex Civil in June 2022, as a project engineer within the Minor Works division. When our Council, Roading & Maintenance division was established at the beginning of 2023, I moved into a project engineer role within that team.

I feel very lucky to get the support that I do while juggling study and full time work. Being 10+ years out of high school made me wonder if I had missed the boat on study, so the encouragement I have had from so many people within Camex has been truly motivating.

Learning about topics that relate back to my everyday work makes it more engaging, and talking about my study in relation to current worksites helps the learnings sink in. I am part of many different sized projects, and the varied scope of works allows me to get involved and learn a lot about materials, testing, risks, methodologies, pricing and more.

My current role, and the people I work with, are definitely what has given me the confidence to complete my Engineering Diploma and pursue a career in what can be a tough industry.

I love the family-business feel at Camex, compared to big corporates. I enjoy feeling part of a team rather than just another number. And of course, I love having so many great dog-sitters when I bring Frankie into work!

The thought the Brewers put into their employees, and their dedication to their work and people inspires the staff to be loyal, work hard and give back. Everyone has a tonne of respect for Jon, Jason and everything they have achieved.

Camex is growing quickly, taking over a massive chunk of the Waikato and surrounding areas. It’s hard to drive anywhere at the moment without seeing our logo somewhere!

I admire seeing the business grow and evolve, even in the short time I have been here. The new office, number of staff and all our new plant, reflects these incredible achievements. And, how many people can say their workplace built them a brand-new gym?! Epic, and so greatly appreciated.
