Community Engagement

BUILDING COMMUNITIES

Connecting People and Creating Communities

We understand how important it is to be involved in our communities and want to help make our living and working spaces better. By teaming up with community members, listening to their ideas, and finding new ways to solve problems, we want to help people in our communities connect with each other in meaningful ways.

Taupo Intermediate School Outdoor Classroom

When our Taup0 team heard about the gully restoration project at Taup0 Intermediate School, they jumped at the opportunity to lend a hand. Started in 2021 with the support of Kids Greening Taupo and Taupo Blue Light, the project aimed to clear an overgrown gully at the school to create an outdoor classroom for students. A huge variety of native trees have been discovered along the way, including rimu, kauri, kōwhai and kānuka. Paths are finished, and students have planted new trees, completing the transformation.

Crown Park Cycle & Pump Track

This community-driven project was originally just an upgrade to the existing kid's cycle skills track at Crown Park. But when a generous local family stepped forward with additional funding, the project was extended to include a brand new pump track. Now, locals and visitors to the park can enjoy a modern, safe and fun place to take their bikes.

Goodwood School Bikes

The kids at Goodwood School love to ride bikes, so we leapt at the chance to help them purchase some new balance bikes for their explorers. Balance bikes are a great way for young kids to develop balance, confidence and friendships. They have a fleet of more than 40 balance bikes, providing endless hours of fun for young kiwis.

Walton School Entranceway

The entranceway at Walton School had been become overrun with potholes and uneven surfaces, so during the term holidays we got together with Fulton Hogan to repair and reseal the area. Now it’s a safer and more accessible space for drop-offs & pick-ups, and looks great at the front of the school.

We’ve supported a range of other community sports, schools, competitions and other initiatives:

  • Camex Jets Business House Golf Team

  • Camex Big Whackers Business House Cricket Team

  • Leamington Rugby Club Fishing Competition

  • Excavation and site works for Hautapu School

  • Laid basecourse for cobble areas at Eureka School

  • Donated timber to the Tangahere Mangananui Trust for new boardwalks

  • Donated a new gazebo to the Taupō Park Run

  • Community planting with Greening Taupo
