“I’m a Senior Site Manager, and have been with Camex for just over three years. I began my journey as an excavator operator, which quickly progressed to site management.

Camex has an awesome team environment and the company highly values and invests in its employees. You’re not just another number here; you are given multiple opportunities to grow your career.

I’m never short of support from senior management, who have given me the confidence and the tools needed to perform to the best of my ability. Recently, I’ve completed Quality Assurance and Contractual Training, which has significantly enhanced my capabilities.

Working closely with our project managers has opened my eyes to all the work that goes on behind-the-scenes in managing projects from start to finish. It has helped me understand and respect each person’s role in delivering a project on time and on budget. I’m always learning new things, including the costs at each stage of a project and how critical forward planning is.

My communication skills, both verbal and written, have also developed considerably since becoming a Senior Site Manager. I’m learning to be more efficient with my time, prioritising tasks, and proactively addressing issues before they escalate. Leading from the front, I wouldn’t ask someone to do a job that I wouldn’t do myself – except hay mulching, as I suffer from bad hayfever!

I feel like I’ve come a long way since starting at Camex, and I love the challenge and variety each day brings.”
