About the role:
As a Drainlayer at Camex Civil, you will be part of a team delivering crucial projects across the Waikato & Bay of Plenty. These include local body infrastructure, commercial construction, and subdivision development. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that these projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest standard.
You’ll work closely with your Site Manager to plan and execute daily tasks, manage job progress, and ensure that health and safety processes are always followed. In this role, you won’t just be following orders - you’ll have the chance to lead and guide others, and take pride in delivering outstanding work that makes a difference in your community.

What you will bring:
We’re after a dedicated, team-oriented individual with a passion for civil construction.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- A proven track record in drainage or water reticulation projects.
- A full Class 1 Driver’s License.
- The ability to read and interpret plans and technical drawings.
- Strong leadership skills and experience training or managing others.
- A great attitude and commitment to delivering quality results.
For those applying for more senior roles, we’re looking for:
- Leadership experience, including managing crews.
- The ability to plan and set out jobs.
- Experience operating plant and machinery.
- A completed NZ Apprenticeship or relevant qualification in Drainlaying or Pipeline Construction and Maintenance is preferred (but we’re also keen to help you get there if you’re working towards it!)

Site Manager (Tauranga)

About the role:
As a Site Manager at Camex Civil, you will support the delivery of our projects in the Bay of Plenty area for local body civil infrastructure, civil commercial construction, civil subdivision development, civil works repairs & maintenance.
In this role you will be accountable for personnel and equipment management on assigned sites to ensure that the project objectives of safety, cost, quality and process are met. This involves:
- Managing day-to-day civil construction activities.
- Managing onsite health and safety processes and documentation.
- Supporting onsite cost management and quality assurance.
- Working on the tools alongside the team.
This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects across different regions and may at times require travel and occasional stays away from home.
What you will bring:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil construction.
- Knowledge of construction safety regulations and excavation works.
- Experience with advanced civil construction methodologies and RITS.
- Ability to read and follow construction plans.
- Minimum 1 year’s team management experience.
- Machinery operating skills (advantageous).

About the role:
We’re looking for skilled and motivated Civil Foremen to join our dynamic team at Camex Civil based in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty.
As a Civil Foreman at Camex Civil, you’ll play a key role in leading site crews and driving successful delivery of civil and drainage projects. Working closely with the Site Manager, you’ll oversee daily operations, manage resources, and ensure all work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Team Leadership: You’ll lead and manage a crew, ensuring tasks are completed to the highest standards, while providing mentorship and training to apprentices and junior staff.
- Project Delivery: You’ll work closely with the Site Manager to oversee all aspects of project execution, from resource allocation and job progress to ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Health & Safety Management: You’ll ensure all onsite health and safety protocols are followed, maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring all required documentation is up to date.
- Quality Control: You’ll oversee the quality of work, including reviewing plans and drawings, conducting QA tests, and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Communication: You’ll act as a key point of contact between site teams and management, providing updates on job progress and any challenges that arise.
What you will bring:
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is committed to safety and quality, and thrives in a team-oriented environment.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a Foreman or leadership role within the civil construction industry.
- Proven experience in drainage, earthworks, and civil siteworks. Operating experience required.
- The ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage crews and collaborate with site teams.
- A strong understanding of health and safety regulations in construction.
- Full Class 1 Driver’s License (Class 2 or WTR endorsements a bonus).

Civil Machine Operator (Tauranga)

About the role:
As a member of Camex Civil, you'll be an integral part of our expert team, supporting projects in local body infrastructure, commercial construction, and subdivision development (check out our stand out projects at camexcivil.co.nz).
Your responsibilities will involve physical labour and operating heavy machinery (5T-20T), utilising suitable tools or machine attachments for moving, excavating, shaping, and compacting earth and materials. You'll also perform pre-operational checks and minor machine maintenance tasks.
Working closely with the site crew, your role ensures safety and the smooth flow of work tasks, especially when operating near other machines, structures, or services.
This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects across different regions and may at times require travel and occasional stays away from home.
Working hours:
Minimum of 30 hours per week, with regular hours extending up to 50 hours (Monday to Friday). Saturday work is available but not obligatory.
Remuneration packages are competitive and based on skill set and experience.
What you will bring:
- Reliability and passion to support the team with a solution-focused mindset.
- Commitment to ensuring quality and safety in all tasks.
- Good physical fitness due to the role's demanding nature.
- Preferred, though not essential, experience using GPS technology.

This is an independent role, reporting directly to our GM of Finance & Shared Services. You’ll work across the group to audit, advise, and support our operational teams — with the freedom to get out on site, see what works in practice, and shape improvements.
What you will be doing:
- Maintain and improve document control systems.
- Lead process simplification and modernisation projects.
- Develop customised forms and workflows in our company app.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across all entities.

- Partner with managers across the group to embed best-practice systems.
