Camex have extensive experience in projects involving significant earthworks. We have a range of specialist equipment including Excavators, Graders and Bulldozer machines and appropriate compaction machinery. Where required we will also utilise hired prime mover equipment.
With the largest fleet of TOPCON GPS equipped machines in the Waikato region we can carry out excavation designs in the most efficient and accurate manner based on models produced by our in-house surveying team.
Our earthworks team have extensive experience in working with different soil types and challenging conditions. At the outset of any project we ensure that the project deliverables are established and a construction management plan (CMP) and Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) incorporating project specific test regimes is put in place within the framework of our quality management system.
Rigorous environmental and sediment control is our upmost importance with any project involving earthworks. We have a wide range of installation and maintenance of environment controls. Recently we constructed a Triton stormwater retention pond which was the largest in the southern hemisphere using the Triton system, this was made possible through our use of the latest GPS technology.
Testing including clegg hammers, penetrometers, shear vanes and nuclear density meter tests or specialist moisture content tests. The Beam tests are regularly undertaken by our in-house survey team or third-party providers.

Camex are involved in the Earthworks, Ground improvement and the excavation of the placement of fill for the Ecogas Reporoa Anaerobic Digester Facility. These siteworks are to provide the platform for the development, fencing, roading access...
Earthworks including 15,000M3 topsoil strip, 90,000M3 cut to fill, 50,000 cut to waste, 3 sediment retention ponds, Floc systems, 1400m2 of timber crib, MSE Duramesh and timber SED retaining walls.
(Sub-contractor to Fulton Hogan). Earthworks including 22,000M3 cut to fill with excavations up to 5m deep in gully and importation and placement of 5,000M3 special clay fill liner.
Earthworks with excavations up to 12m deep, importation of 45,000M3 of sand and construction of MSE Duramesh retaining walls over 10m high in preparation for pavement construction.
Involved slip repair works and construction of new timber post retaining walls, along the settler’s track walking track which runs aside the Waikato river.
Involved construction of an MSE Duramesh reinforced retaining wall 120m long, with 3m deep subgrade excavation. Challenging ground conditions due to soft subgrade and large volumes of ground water.
