Statement by a Camex Team Member (2021)

Since our start in 1998 as a small family firm, we have brought passion and pride to our work. Our CAMEX family has now grown to over 130 team members, offering a full range of civil land development services and specialist confined space work throughout the Waikato and surround. The team remains motivated to bring our performance to the next level by improving systems and gaining more experience with highly skilled staff.

With the establishment and continued growth of our Taupo branch (made up of approximately 20 permanent staff members), we now have a great opportunity for an experienced Land Surveyor who is eager to take on a critical role within the development of the Taupo District.

About the Role:

As the primary Surveyor at Camex Civil Ltd.’s Taupo branch, you will hold overall responsibility for coordinating and conducting professional surveying activities for the district’s projects. In this position, the opportunity is granted to take a leading role in the delivery and growth of survey services within the branch, with remote support from our Cambridge-based Survey Department. You will be working within a tight-knit team, collaborating with the local Project Managers to support the execution and delivery of high-profile civil projects, including CBD upgrades, subdivisions, watermain upgrades and more.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working  closely with our construction team and managing communications with senior management and other related disciplines to ensure the delivery of accurate survey functions.
  • Interpreting plans and codes of practice.
  • Conducting surveying for civil infrastructure, 3-water and land development projects, so as to ensure that enough evidence is gathered to support claim processes.
  • Utilising Topcon GPS and robotic total station for site set-out or capture surfaces and as built data.
  • Calculating quantities using survey data.
  • Routine As-built pickup of the works and plotting preliminary data.

What is Needed?

This role would be ideally suited to an individual that has the expertise and skill set to independently lead and deliver upon the survey needs for operations at our Taupo Branch. We are therefore searching for someone with:

  • A tertiary qualification in the knowledge areas of Land Surveying or engineering.
  • At least 5 years’ survey experience within the New Zealand civil industry.
  • Strong communication skills and organisational capabilities to manage work demands across multiple projects.
  • Confident with the use of Topcon GPS, Total Station, and Magnet office or Civil 3D software.
  • Full Class 1 Driver’s Licence.

If we are the team you want to be a part of, apply now!

Please Note: At this time, we are only considering applications from candidates with current right to live and work in New Zealand.
